Music Borrowing and Lending Policy

Pro Coro Canada as a professional choral arts organization has a role to play in supporting a variety of stakeholders in the music industry, such as living composers and publishers of choral music.

Therefore, Pro Coro Canada:

  1. Will not borrow scores by living composers from any source,

  2. Will not lend scores by living composers to any organization,

  3. May borrow scores that are in the public domain,

  4. May lend scores that are in the public domain,

  5. Will make a best effort to communicate that digitized scores put on electronic devices by our contracted singers shall be deleted appropriately following their use in concert, recording or tours and,

  6. Will ensure Pro Coro Canada has in its possession the license for the appropriate number of scores used digitally by its singers in addition to the number of paper scores required by the singers.

Pro Coro Canada supports the professional work of living composers and publishing houses through the purchase of original scores, and the commissioning and performing of Canadian music, and encourages other choral organizations to invest in the creation of new works in the same spirit.
