David Lang, a passionate and prolific composer, exemplifies a restless spirit of innovation. He is deeply rooted in the classical tradition while also dedicated to creating music that continuously crafts new forms.

Lang is among America’s most frequently performed composers. His works share a common thread of intelligence and vision in their structures. His extensive catalogue includes opera, orchestral, chamber, and solo pieces that can be ominous, ethereal, urgent, hypnotic, unsettling, and emotionally direct. Much of his work aims to broaden the definition of musical virtuosity — even the seemingly simple pieces can be extraordinarily challenging to play, demanding immense concentration from both musicians and audiences.

David Lang has gifted a new work to Pro Coro Canada as a thank you for performing his little match girl passion for 10 years in a row (the December 2024 performance will mark the 12th edition). Catch the world premier of Northern Lights on June 9th.

Astral dust, giant spheres, and narrow staircases to the eternity of the universe inspire us to dream of a world where time's grip has loosened its hold. The work was commissioned and premiered by Voces Boreales under the direction of Andrew Gray. The Montreal-based professional vocal ensemble Voces Boreales was founded by our own artistic director, Michael Zaugg, in 2007.

The Fund Development Specialist provides seasonal planning and consistent execution of all aspects of the organization’s Fund Development initiatives including annual campaigns, season sponsorship, and donor events. The Fund Development Specialist is an active, engaging presence at all of Pro Coro Canada’s concerts, and interacts with patrons, staff, volunteers, and the artists.
