Dear Friends and Supporters of Pro Coro Canada,

Coming in from the cold today, after 45 minutes of snow blowing and some clearing of the sidewalk, I was really cold. My fingers hurt, my nose was running and my pants quickly became wet with melting snow. And I had the privilege to quickly change my pants, get a hot coffee, and go and blow my nose with a clean handkerchief.

Not so the Little Match Girl …. You know the story! Pro Coro has presented this work every December since 2013 as a counterpoint to the busyness in Advent, and with the intention to give all who come and listen a one-hour reflection.

Our four singers, Jolaine Kerley, Adrienne Sitko, Caleb Nelson and Michael Kurschat, will once again sing this hauntingly beautiful and stark choral work by David Lang. I have chosen additional choral music to frame the Match Girl Passion thematically and I hope the selection will resonate with you. Come early and read through the story on our large poster boards in the lobby of All Saints’ Cathedral.

Please also note that both of our Select Series concerts in December are additions to our Expedition and Discovery passes; in-person tickets for these concerts are not included with these passes. Passport holders can buy single in-person tickets for either concert in December, or get a package deal, see below.

Pro Coro's annual winter performance of David Lang's Pulitzer Prize-winning work "The Little Match Girl Passion" is a hauntingly beautiful candlelit experience that will take you on the heart wrenching but hopeful journey of Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic tale. Enjoy a meditative counterpoint to the frenzy of December with this one-hour-long performance by four of Pro Coro’s singers, who will also be accompanying themselves on a selection of percussion instruments.

Join us at 7:30pm on Friday, December 31st for New Year's Eve with Pro Coro Canada at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral. This concert is available in-person only.

Unwind with Pro Coro as we serenade you into the New Year and celebrate the festive season together with a selection of light music, interspersed with moments of reflection. Enjoy choral music spanning centuries, including our favourite: Santiago - from Joby Talbot’s epic masterpiece Path of Miracles.

Holiday Office Closure

The Pro Coro Canada office will be closed for the following dates during the 2021-22 holiday season. Starting January 4th, we will return to our regular hours (Monday to Friday, 10:30am - 3:30pm).
