Dear choral colleagues As some of you know, here in Alberta we moved into Phase 2 of pandemic restrictions, or, easings thereof. So, last Friday was our first rehearsal with 30 singers in-person since March 2020! What a great moment it was, and how thrilling to hear that many singers make music together. Within 5 minutes we were singing and starting with preparations for our June 27 concert. Path of Miracles by Joby Talbot is such a fitting work at the tail-end of months of restrictions, of not gathering and not singing together. face and soul alike. I assume many of us experienced the last months in similar ways as a pilgrim might: the journey changing our lives, our families, our professions and our souls. Looking ahead to the 2021-2022 season, I would like to bring our Emerging Artist program to your attention. This program is tailored to singers, composers and conductors alike, and in each instance can have slightly different practises and approaches. Of course, emerging singers will most likely be based locally, so they can attend rehearsals, coachings and concerts. Our internship program will be up-and-running, and we’re looking for four singers (SATB) to join for specific concerts. Announcements will be made later via social media. As an emerging composer or conductor, you can send a letter of interest to this email address and I will contact you to find out more about your plans and your motivation. Emerging composers and conductors generally come from outside Edmonton/Alberta and we will need to follow public health guidelines for travel and work of course.
