Her work is praised for its rich counterpoint, expressive dissonances, and dynamic vocal interplay. A recipient of numerous grants and commissions, she was awarded the prestigious McKnight Fellowship for Composition in 2017.

Her music has been performed by ensembles such as VocalEssence and The Rose Ensemble, as well as school and church choirs across the U.S. and Europe. She founded the vocal quartet LUMINA and has served as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church in South St. Paul since 1991. Her extensive experience as a singer and conductor shapes her expressive and sensitive vocal writing.
