We are delighted to invite you to Pro Coro Canada's last concert of the season! The Tower & The Garden is an eclectic program featuring the Vaughan String Quartet and Pro Coro Canada's Emerging Artists #connect.

It will be a night of exquisite choral melodies that showcase the works of Gregory Spears, Torbjörn Dyrud, Victor Мuzhchyl, Laura Hawley, Marie-Claire Saindon, and Knut Nystedt.

He is an alumnus of the National Youth Choir of Canada in 2022 under the direction of Jean-Sebastien Vallée. Andrew is the current conductor of the Opera Theatre class at the University of Alberta, and recently conducted their production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance. Andrew has also performed with ensembles such as Chronos Vocal ensemble, and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble.

What is your major musical influence?

My early musical experiences always revolved around singing at Church whether it be singing in the congregation as a teenage alto, or playing guitar and the drums. When I began to study music at university, I was in awe of the abundant amount of educators and conductors had to make excellent music and to push me to continue to build my own strengths as a musician.

What are your favourite Pro Coro Canada performances?

Every year I look forward to the performance on Good Friday. It is a time to reflect on the passion of Christ and immerse into the solemn yet striking music set for this day.

She continued to participate in many collaborations, from choral pieces, to scoring short films and full documentaries, to accompanying dancers, to fiddling in a team of folk musicians on a historical steam train. She sang in the award-winning female vocal ensemble Concerto Della Donna, led by acclaimed choral director Iwan Edwards.

Ms. Saindon holds a BMus in Composition from the Schulich School of Music (McGill) and an MMus in Composition - Film and Multimedia music from Université de Montréal. She is a winner of the SOCAN Young Composers' National Award in the vocal category (2013), the Gregg Smith National Choral Composition Contest (2015), the Canadian Choral Composition Competition hosted by Chor Leoni (2018), the Ruth Watson Henderson Choral Composition Competition (2018), the inaugural Eastern Horizon Composition Competition (2018) and the Hong Kong Children’s Choir 50th Anniversary Composition Competition (2018).
