We’re coming to the end of the season!

Dear Friends and Supporters of Pro Coro Canada

With our final concert on June 10, The Tower and The Garden, we ended our 2022-2023 performance season. It was a celebratory evening, with our choir, the emerging artists #connect and the Vaughan String Quartet. We also released our recent CD We Breathe In Stars and we announced in detail the 2023-2024 season.

As we are getting ready to power down the singing aspect over the next couple months, we are also busy at work with setting up the new season, the subscription package and the mailings with our 2023-2024 season brochure! If your address has changed, or you would like the materials sent to a different address, please write to us at thechoir@procoro.ca

One more time - we have almost reached our annual goal to raise $30,000.- Please help us to get there! Your contribution makes a difference in our music-making, in our programming for young artists, and in our work to present great choral works!

Before July comes around, you will receive one more newsletter with a dedicated blog post where I write about the past season, my personal highlights and suggestions for summer listening.

Great Canadian Giving Challenge 2023

Historically, June has been a slow time of year for fundraising, and the Great Canadian Giving Challenge was launched in 2015 to help charities across the country engage their supporters and raise money for their causes.

‘We Breathe in Stars’ CD

When the global pandemic brought life to a standstill in the winter of 2020, the performing arts, like many other industries and disciplines, suffered immensely. Pro Coro Canada commissioned 8 Alberta composers to each write a short four-part a cappella work that could be learned individually at home and eventually sung in small groups in large venues or outside.

Pro Coro Canada subsequently recorded these works in full and as individual practice videos in the summer of 2020, one of the earliest professional choral activities during the pandemic in Canada. The choir has since performed the compositions several times in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.
