Meet Our Guests: The Archbishop MacDonald High School Choir

The Archbishop MacDonald High School Choir is a non-auditioned ensemble of 40 students from grades 10 to 12, directed by Lyndsey Olsen. Rehearsing two to three times a week, the choir is accompanied by their pianist, Remi Do. Known for their excellence, the Mac Choir consistently ranks among the top high school choirs in the province and recently earned first place at the Western Canada Music Festival.

Beyond their achievements, the choir fosters a strong sense of community, where students share their passion for music, form lasting friendships, and support one another in both artistic and personal growth. |

Singer Spotlight: Jonathan Sutton

Jonathan Sutton, Bass - Pro Coro Canada Originally from Montana, Jonathan grew up in a musical household with both parents teaching music. |

He studied voice, trombone, and Music Education at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota and earned a Master's Degree in Mus. Ed. from Montana State University. Although he is new to Edmonton, he is excited to pursue more musical opportunities and loves singing bass for Pro Coro Canada.

Our guest conductor, Brainerd Blyden-Taylor, will explore meaningful topics, including the importance of representation in the Canadian choral music industry, the influence of Afrocentric songs and spirituals on his career, and the music behind Pro Coro Canada’s upcoming concert, Let Us Cheer the Weary Traveller.
