As we get into the festivities of our December concerts, we are excited to perform again the work of one of the leading composers in choral music.

Three-time GRAMMY® nominee and American Prize-winner Benedict Sheehan is celebrated as a major force in 21st-century religious classical music. As Artistic Director and founder of the GRAMMY®-nominated Artefact Ensemble, Sheehan is a prolific composer and conductor whose works have been praised as “luminous and uplifting” (Choir & Organ) and “hypnotically beautiful” (MusicWeb International).

In a powerful collaboration, the tenors and basses of Pro Coro Canada joined Axios Men’s Ensemble in the 2024 premiere of Sheehan’s Ukrainian War Requiem, to be released in 2025 on the Cappella Records label.

Sheehan's music is regularly performed by leading choral groups and published by Oxford University Press, Artefact Publications, and Hal Leonard. Looking ahead, he will headline at Carnegie Hall in 2026 with the premiere of his new work You Are Not Alone.

Pro Coro Canada’s season launch The Emperor’s New Clothes was a concert unlike anything else. Our twenty-four voice professional choir, combined with the youthful skill of Shumayela conducted by Pro Coro Canada’s Kimberley Denis, elevated the spirits of audience members and brought true delight. This level of professional choral performance and leadership is found in few other places. As Pro Coro Canada supporter Lelde Muehlenbachs remarks, "With the choir's fabulous voices, there are musical moments that you don't hear anywhere else. You experience things you've never experienced before."

The Pro Coro Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on November 27, 2024, at 5:30 PM MST via Zoom. Members in good standing are invited to attend, vote, and hear reports from the Board.
