Dear Friends and Supporters of Pro Coro Canada,

I hope you were able to enjoy a lovely Thanksgiving weekend if you are here in Canada. As I have just made the journey around the sun another time, I am grateful for the time with family and friends, spent in nature or at home, and for the continued inspiration of music and art that fills my life. Thank you all for being a part of this journey.

Since I am spending a couple weeks away from my office, I would like to let others in our organization tell us about themselves and about their inspirations. So, please let us present our Singer Spotlight Series over the next months, starting with our Alto, Sable Chan. Enjoy the read!

Singer Spotlight: Sable Chan

Sable Chan is a Speech-Language Pathologist with an interest in voice therapy. She runs a private practice adult voice therapy clinic in addition to her work with elementary-aged children for the Edmonton Public School Board. Sable sings in professional ensembles such as Pro Coro Canada, the Edmonton Opera Chorus, and the Canadian Chamber Choir. She is also co-founder of FEMME vocal quartet, which is an ensemble that aims to amplify a contemporary female perspective within the medium of choral music. Sable was named Top 40 under 40 by EDify magazine in 2019 and shares her choral music musings on The Choir Girl Blog.

1. What was the last TV show you watched?

Ted Lasso. While it is heartwarming to view an underdog football team develop with a happy-go-lucky coach, I enjoyed how the show explores the background behind the learned optimism and abrasiveness of some characters.

2. What is one item that you can't spend a day without?

Tea in the morning.

3. Would you rather go to a beach or hiking?

Hiking. There’s more opportunities for potential shade.

4. Opera or Broadway?

Broadway because going to see shows is a shared a bonding activity with my Mom when we travel. She appreciates how Broadway shows are shorter, she can understand what they’re saying without subtitles, and there's always merchandise tables to peruse.

5. What is your favourite part of singing in Pro Coro?

Making music in a community with some of the most nurturing, loving, and delightful singing souls I know.

Volunteer for Our Casino Fundraiser

Pro Coro Canada is looking for volunteers to join our Casino Fundraiser on October 14 and 15 at the Starlight Casino in West Edmonton Mall.

A note about safety: the Starlight Casino has implemented the Restrictions Exemption Program and proof of vaccination is required for all patrons and volunteers, in addition to the mask by-law.

Be part of the leadership of the nationally recognized, award-winning professional choir Pro Coro Canada!

Do you have professional expertise in Accounting, the Culture sector, the Virtual Performance Space or Risk Management? Are you committed to investing time and energy in governing a not-for-profit organization, and enjoy an open discourse to further a national music treasure?

Pro Coro Canada is looking for community-minded leaders to join its Board of Directors. The entire Board meets six to eight times per year, and board committees convene as necessary between board meetings. A board orientation session is held after the Annual General Meeting in late Fall.
