For our Wednesday Christmas Radio, we present to you a work by Canadian composer Jeff Enns, Creator of the Stars of Night. Pro Coro performed his work at the Christmas concert in 2014. Known also in the original Latin as Conditor Alme Siderum, the tune is a seventh-century hymn used during the liturgical season of Advent. It was ascribed to Saint Ambrose, and the English translation is attributed to J.M. Neale. Jeff Enns is a native of Waterloo Ontario. He studied organ, viola and composition at Wilfrid Laurier University. He has won a number of composition competitions and has his music performed across North America, as well as Europe. Jeff has received commissions from choral groups across Canada such as Halifax Camerata (NS), Xara Choral Theatre (NS), University of Alberta Madrigal Singers (AB), Spiritus Chamber Choir (AB), and Vox Humana Chamber Choir (BC). He also sings professionally with the Canadian Chamber Choir and the Elora Festival Singers.
