Dear Friends and Supporters of Pro Coro Canada,

The first in-person concert of Pro Coro Canada in over one year is happening this Saturday! I’m really excited to see you, either at McDougall United Church in downtown Edmonton or on our livestream at tv.procoro.ca. The choir has had several rehearsals in preparation for this weekend’s concert, which features music from Pro Coro’s first appearance in 1981. Below you will find information about how to enjoy the concert either in person or online.

It has been an exciting time to revisit the choral treasures that were performed in the first Pro Coro Canada concert under the direction of founding Artistic Director Michel M. Gervais. The musical selection encompasses masterpieces by Britten and Monteverdi but also composers that were, in 1981, unknown to audiences here in Edmonton. Following the journey back to the beginnings of Pro Coro Canada, but also further, to the roots that led Gervais to create a choir in the spirit of Swedish Choral Music, is an inspiration. All of Pro Coro’s musical directors had at one point a connection to the Scandinavian choral tradition and choral music, and I’ve added a couple highlights from the Swedish repertoire to the concert.

Laudi - This Saturday!

Celebrate 40 years of Pro Coro Canada as the choir revisits choral treasurers by Britten, Poulenc and Ligeti that were performed in Pro Coro’s very first concert in 1981.

You can watch our live-streamed concerts from the comfort of your own home! All Season Passport holders will be able to watch the livestream of this concert online. To purchase online access to Laudi without a Season Passport, visit tv.procoro.ca and register for an account.

IN PERSON

To save your seat for this concert, you can purchase a Season Passport through our website and we will send an RSVP form to you. You can also purchase single tickets to attend the concert in person without the purchase of a passport. Single tickets are now available on our website:

We believe that it is essential to provide a safe environment for our patrons, musicians, and staff, as well as to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Therefore, Pro Coro Canada has implemented the Government of Alberta’s Restrictions Exemption Program. Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative COVID-19 test result from an approved testing provider taken within 48 hours of attendance is required to attend a Pro Coro Canada event in person, effective September 20, 2021. Volunteer for Our Casino Fundraiser

Pro Coro Canada is looking for volunteers to join our Casino Fundraiser on October 14 and 15. We will be at the Starlight Casino in West Edmonton Mall, and if you have volunteered at a Casino event before, you know that it is a great opportunity to connect with the community, catch up with other volunteers, spend some time reading and now and then hold thousands of dollars in your hands! Do you have professional expertise in Accounting, the Culture sector, the Virtual Performance Space or Risk Management? Are you committed to investing time and energy in governing a not-for-profit organization, and enjoy an open discourse to further a national music treasure?

Pro Coro Canada is looking for community-minded leaders to join its Board of Directors. The entire Board meets six to eight times per year, and board committees convene as necessary between board meetings. A board orientation session is held after the Annual General Meeting in late Fall.
