Dear Friends and supporters of Pro Coro Canada

WELCOME to the 2021-2022 Season of Pro Coro Canada. This is the first official message as we enter the choir’s 41st season. And we’re starting with a look to the roots of Edmonton’s Professional Choir as we perform, on September 25, almost 40 years to the day since the inaugural concert on September 27, 1981.

I’m really excited about presenting some of the same music that founding artistic director Michel M. Gervais programmed 40 years ago, including Britten, Monteverdi, Ligeti and Alven; music that is timeless and excites heart and mind now and then.

As we prepare for our first in-person concert in over one year, we are looking forward to seeing you at McDougall United Church in Edmonton or online on ProCoroTV. Wherever you are and whatever your comfort level, you can be part of Pro Coro Canada’s 2021-2022 season.

Celebrate 40 years of Pro Coro Canada as the choir revisits choral treasurers by Britten, Poulenc and Ligeti that were performed in Pro Coro’s very first concert in 1981.

Moonshot III - What time is left (November 28, 2021 - 3PM)

Join Pro Coro Canada as the choir explores the trends and inspirations of Canada’s emerging composers as they use vocal music to address the use and abuse of nature.

We Breathe In Stars (January 23, 2022 - 3PM)

Experience choral music written by Alberta-based composers during the global pandemic. Featuring works by Beatch, Berry, Estacio, Gilliland, Hawley, King, McMillan, and Sewepagaham.

Missae 8 (March 5, 2022 - 7:30PM)

Re-visit the Latin Mass text through musical settings by Frank Martin and Antonin Dvorak in Pro Coro’s annual Missae series.

Good Friday with Pro Coro Canada (April 15, 2022 - 7:30PM)

Reflect on the Passion of Christ with choral music spanning 250 years.

Before the West (May 15, 2022 - 3PM)

Be part of the newest trends in Canadian choral music through this collaboration with the Canadian League of Composers and the emerging artist program PIVOT.

Doors of Heaven (June 18, 2022 - 7:30PM)

Dwell in choral sounds as the ensemble explores the music of Esenvalds, Harris, and more.

Enjoy a one hour candlelight performance of David Lang’s Little Match Girl Passion performed by a quartet of singers who will take you on the heart-wrenching but hopeful journey.
