Dear Passport Holders and Subscribers of Pro Coro Canada

I hope this message finds you and your loved-ones well and healthy. I wanted to give you a brief update on our upcoming performances for the remainder of 2020. As a Passport holder and Ticket buyer, you have access to our digital content on Pro Coro TV and can enjoy our performances as soon as they become available.

With the current pressure on the system due to the pandemic and rising case numbers, the health agency here in Alberta has restricted all rehearsals and performances. As a professional choir, we can apply for an exemption from the overall ban on singing. Our conditions for a rehearsal or performance are very strict, and exceed the guidelines. For our upcoming event for example, we have singers distanced at over 12 feet / 3.5 metres, singing with masks and taking breaks every 15 to 20 minutes.

This Sunday, December 13, we are still planning to offer the Little Match Girl Passion by David Lang. We’ve performed this 50 minute work every Advent since 2013 to a loyal, ever-growing audience here in Edmonton. Between December 27 and 31, we have our Happy Hours Between The Years series on the schedule.

We are currently in a waiting pattern and hope to know by mid-week if we can perform the Little Match Girl Passion as planned this Sunday OR if the performance will need to take place at a later date. The story of the match girl, as conceived musically by David Lang, is enwrapped in texts about the Passion by the Evangelist St Matthew, and thus fits also into the Lenten season. We are also applying for an exemption in order to perform the Happy Hours In Between The Years series, and hope to have more information by December 20th. With your Passport, you will have access to any of these performances as soon as they are available.
