One of the composers that will be featured in the upcoming concert Missae IX is Philippines’ National Artist for Music, Ryan Cayabyab.

Filipino musician, arranger, musical director, and composer Ryan Cayabyab is also known as Mr. C and The Maestro. His skillful and versatile musical approach encompasses a wide range of genres, from mainstream popular music to musical theatre, dance, film, religious music, symphonic works, and opera.

One of Cayabyab’s classics, Misa, will be performed in Missae IX on May 6, at All Saints’ Anglican Cathedral.

Pro Coro Canada is inviting trained and talented singers to audition for one of Canada’s premier professional choirs.

Pro Coro Canada welcomes applicants with a diverse background, training and experience. Auditions are for all sections (SATB) in both core and extra positions.

Jonathan Velasco, fondly known as Jojo, is a much sought-after choral conductor, clinician, and adjudicator in the world today.

Velasco and his choirs have won first prizes in major choral competitions in Maribor, Cork, Marktoberdorf, Tolosa, Torrevieja, and Riga. He currently conducts the Ateneo Chamber Singers and is a part-time lecturer at the University of the Philippines College of Music and St. Paul University Manila. He regularly judges international choral competitions in Europe and Asia.

He has since conducted this prestigious choir two more times, in the 2001 winter session and the 2018 summer session.

Velasco is a regular guest conductor of various orchestras in the Philippines and abroad. He has conducted the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Manila Symphony Orchestra, the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Taiwan Youth Orchestra.

Velasco is the Philippine representative to the INTERKULTUR World Choir Council. He was also elected as the first President of the Philippine Choral Directors Association in 2008.
