Musical Reflections Through Holy Week
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.…”
— John 3:16-17
As one of the choir’ signature performances, Good Friday with Pro Coro Canada is a beloved tradition in the Edmonton arts community. During times of turmoil and searching for comfort, we are to happy offer our community the solace of a shared musical journey for this Easter season. We know that many of our patrons will be observing Holy Week as part of their lives.
Throughout Holy Week, Pro Coro Canada will present a curated musical reflection to accompany the journey through the year’s observance of Holy Week. The voices of Edmonton’s professional choir will resound in your own home as we open our performance archive to share musical experiences old and new; listen to live recordings from previous Good Friday concerts, featuring Bruckner, Fauré, Nystedt, Praulins and Mealor, interweaving a contemplative journey to welcome Easter and the coming of Spring.
Musical Reflections Through Holy Week started in 2020 as an offering to the public, to choral music lovers and to our regular audiences during pandemic restriction. Lent, Good Friday & Easter in 2020 were celebrated in different ways; remotely, online, and under restrictions. Please click below to find Pro Coro Canada’s presentation from that year, featuring many great choral works by some of our favourite composers.
