The Board of Directors plays a vital role in providing oversight and guidance to the Pro Coro Society – Edmonton (Pro Coro Canada), with a focus on strategic direction and operational resilience for the performing arts organization. Directors are responsible for supporting and planning the organization’s future, ensuring that the resources and supports necessary for effective operations - both on stage and behind the scenes - are in place.

Professional expertise in areas such as Accounting, Fund Development, Human Resources, Governance, Digital Law, or Risk Management is highly valued. Candidates should be enthusiastic and able to devote two (2) to four (4) hours per month to support the governance of a not-for-profit organization and be prepared to actively participate in discussions that further Pro Coro Canada’s operational and musical initiatives.

Board of Director Role

The Board of Directors provide strategic leadership within Pro Coro Canada, advancing its mission, vision, and values in support of the choral arts. This role, in collaboration with the Managing and Artistic Director, encompasses both governance and leadership, helping to foster artistic, financial, and social sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the design and implementation of long-term strategies aligned with Pro Coro Canada’s mission, vision, and values.

  • Fundraising & Development: Build and sustain relationships with donors, grant makers, and sponsors.

  • Community Engagement: Forge partnerships with local artists, schools, cultural organizations, and civic groups to broaden outreach and access.

  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and reporting to ensure sound fiscal management.

  • Board Relations: Collaborate with fellow Board Members to set organizational priorities, participate in Board standing and ad hoc committees, monitor progress, and uphold governance standards.

  • Artistic Support: Attend Pro Coro Canada concerts and events as appropriate.

Time Commitment: Two to four hours per month

Board Term: Two (2) years, commencing at the AGM, to a maximum of 3 terms.

Meetings: Six (6) regular board meetings plus one (1) AGM; all meetings are conducted virtually, with in-person attendance options available.
